BIDDING PRAYERS:  Word Doc: 220724 17C

 17TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Priest:             With the perseverance Jesus taught us, let us life up our prayer, asking, seeking, knocking at the door of the God who gives us every good gift.

Reader:          For Pope Francis as he journeys to Canada this week; may the Lord work in and through him as he seeks healing and forgiveness for past wrongs and strives to bring the Gospel message to our ever more secular society.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For Grandparents and the elderly; on this day of prayer for grandparents may we all recognise the beauty and wisdom of the older members of our community and treat them with kindness and respect.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For our care of the created world; may we recognise the human causes of climate change and seek to challenge ourselves and those in authority to make the necessary changes in the way we live our lives.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For the sick and housebound in our parish; may those who bring the Eucharist to them be true bearers of God into their homes showing them that God is always with them.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For the gift of re-creation; that people may have the opportunity of rest and renewal during this holiday season and be renewed in body and spirit to face the challenges of daily life with courage and faith.

Lord hear us …………………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us remember especially today (Bert Keany, Vigil Mass); The Parish 10 am Mass); (Margaret Dixon and Bill Harrison, 6.30pm Mass) for whom this Mass is offered.

And also, all the Holy Souls and all those who have died recently, especially Peter Cosgrove, Ron Sharples and Fr Frank Jennings;  may they rest in peace and rise in glory.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).   We ask Mary, our Mother, to join with us in our prayers: Hail Mary …

Priest:             Heavenly Father, Father, giver of live and source of our hope, hear the prayers which we make in faith. We ask that you hear and grant them, through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
